During the flow of the session, we often identify particular stressors that have been experienced and internalized and have thus become part of patterned behavior that, while perhaps necessary at the time of its creation, are no longer useful. These patterned responses can come from severe psychological or physical traumas or more innocuous but surprisingly powerful sources. They often cause us to make choices, to behave in ways that we know are not healthy or productive, but we can’t seem to choose differently.
