Winter Solstice Gong Meditation

The Winter Solstice Gong Meditation has two openings. This will happen on Friday December 23 at 7:30-9:00 pm.  Space is limited and it is necessary to register with me in advance.  So if you are interested in coming, there are two places available which will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  This is a beautiful event I offer at the Solstice. I am posting the description below.  Contact me if interested at or through the website.

Winter Solstice Sacred Sound Gong Meditation with Jan Sandman

Friday, December 23, 2016  7:30-9:00

Please join me on this powerful evening, the time of the Winter Solstice, Friday, December 23, 2016 in the beauty of the transformative resonance of the Gong.  The gong is an ancient instrument whose sound and vibration penetrate deep into the body, heart, mind and spirit,  linking the finite with the infinite.  On this evening just after the Solstice, we will let the gong carry us to a place of deep relaxation, connection and harmony.

In the beginning, there will be an opportunity to silently set and mark your intention for this Solstice. There will then be a 10-15 minute movement circle where you can move with eyes closed if you choose to connect with your body.  If not, you can simply close your eyes and sit quietly. This will be followed by silence. During this time, the Gong will begin to sound. You will simply relax and receive, take in and be carried by the vibrations.  The Gong has an extreme range of sounds, from tiny and angelic to large and cathartic.  The sound itself will be working with you and the intentions you have set along with whatever the universe may have in mind for you. The exact time of the Solstice is on Wednesday December 21, however we are doing the ceremony just following this on the 23rd, during this potent time of  darkness as we situate ourselves in the  heart of the Solstice.

Please enter the space in Silence.  I suggest that you bring an object, like a crystal or a stone to place on the altar that will be bathed in the sound then go home with you, full of the vibration of the evening and any intention or prayer you are working with.

We will begin at 7:30 pm and I ask that people arrive by 7:25 to get settled. Please enter the room in Silence.  There are no chairs in the space, it is floor seating only.  You will be welcome to lie down.  Bring a cushion or a backjack if you need something like that for comfort.(Nothing sharp to protect the mats) The body often cools down in stillness of this sort, so feel welcome to bring a shawl, etc.

Cost is a sliding scale, suggested $10-25.  All proceeds will be donated to the White Rose Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which supports global peace and consciousness.  Registration is necessary as space is limited  and will be offered on a first come/first served basis. Please let me know if you plan to attend  by email or by phone. If you are unable or uninterested in attending,  you could let me know that as well so I will then spread the word to a wider circle. or 229-4671, 522-5032

I hope to see you at the Solstice ceremony!

“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn’t matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come.”
